Silicon Valley couples have a particular set of constraints - out-of-state guests flying into SFO or SJC, hotel blocks that need to work for both the city and the venue, and a strong preference for weddings that look modern rather than traditional. The venue market between Palo Alto and San Jose is smaller than SF or the East Bay, but the venues that exist are excellent, and the planning logistics are unusually manageable.
Full South Bay coverage lives in our Silicon Valley venue directory and neighboring city pages.
Nestldown - Los Gatos redwood estate
Nestldown is a private 90-acre estate in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Los Gatos with mature redwoods, a pond, a private chapel, and a barn reception space. Ceremonies happen in the redwood grove, cocktails in the meadow, dinner in the barn. Extremely limited weekend availability - book 14 to 18 months out.
Mountain Winery - Saratoga hilltop icon
Mountain Winery is the venue every Silicon Valley couple considers, and for good reason - a former Paul Masson estate at 2,000 feet with panoramic South Bay views. Multiple ceremony sites, indoor and outdoor reception options. Larger capacity (up to about 250) and a well-run wedding operation. The site fee reflects the view.

Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden - Palo Alto botanical
Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden is a 2.5-acre historic estate garden in the heart of Palo Alto. Ceremonies happen among the mature roses and formal beds. Smaller weddings (up to 200 outdoors, fewer indoors) and best in April through October before rain risk kicks in.
Rengstorff House - Mountain View lakeside
Rengstorff House is a Victorian estate on the shore of Shoreline Lake, half a mile from Google's headquarters. Ceremonies on the lawn, receptions in the pavilion. One of the most affordable full-service South Bay venues.
el PRADO - Palo Alto modern
el PRADO is a design-forward event space in downtown Palo Alto that reads more like a gallery than a wedding venue. Best for smaller, styled weddings (60 to 120 guests) where the venue is meant to be a clean backdrop rather than the main statement.
Saratoga Foothill Club - Historic clubhouse
The Saratoga Foothill Club is a 1915 arts-and-crafts landmark designed by Julia Morgan. Small-to-medium capacity, strong historic character, and a real value pick for couples who want architecture-does-the-work.
Lucie Stern Community Center - Palo Alto community venue
Lucie Stern Community Center is a Palo Alto community-owned venue with a Spanish-mission courtyard and historic hall. Below-market pricing (it's community-run) and a wait list, but a real find for cost-conscious couples.

Boulder Ridge - San Jose full-service
Boulder Ridge by Wedgewood Weddings is a full-service golf-course property with in-house catering, coordination, and rentals. Not the design-forward pick, but the operationally-simple one - a lot of Silicon Valley couples end up here after touring the a-la-carte venues and doing the math.
Silicon Valley wedding logistics that are actually different
Guest travel: SJC is closer for most South Bay venues than SFO, but half your out-of-town guests will fly into SFO regardless. Plan hotel blocks near BART or Caltrain if possible.
Hotel blocks: Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Cupertino hotel rates spike during major tech conferences (WWDC, Google I/O, dev events). Check the venue's preferred date against the tech calendar before locking it in.
Vendor coverage: The South Bay has fewer wedding planners and photographers physically based here than SF or the East Bay - most vendors travel down from the city or up from Santa Cruz. Ask about travel fees and mileage charges in the contract.
Weekday weddings: Silicon Valley couples have unusual openness to Thursday or Friday weddings because so many guests are out-of-town anyway and traveling on PTO. Weekday pricing is often 30 to 40 percent lower.
Temperature swings: South Bay summer afternoons can hit 95 degrees; the same day drops to 60 by 9 pm. Plan for both ends. Outdoor ceremonies should start after 4:30 pm in July and August.
